A Walk in Public

On Sunday, June 18th, 1978, the artists of Old City Arts created a neighborhood celebration called A Walk In Public. It was part of the group’s May Festival in June called ‘A Tropical Sunset’. The parade began in Independence National Historic Park at 3rd and Chestnut Streets and meandered through Franklin Court out onto Market Street and then headed north on 3rd Street to 4th and Wood Streets. The parade featured camels, goats, a Fairmount Park Mounted Police Horse, numerous floats, music, and a colorful brigade of over 70 artists.
